Ethical Non-Monogamy

You have a variety of options if you’d like to learn more about ethical non-monogamy AKA consensual non-monogamy—The Ethical Slut, Polysecure or Open Monogamy, to name a few. The latest to the game is More: A Memoir of Open Marriage by Molly Roden Winter. It’s a New York Times bestseller which makes me wonder if Americans are coming around to the idea of non-monogamy or if we’re a bunch of voyeurs (both?).

I love how honest and vulnerable she is with her feelings about jealousy, her experiences in therapy and how her communication changed with her primary partner. Her relationships with other partners were both beautiful and complicated. One of her kids found out that she and her husband were dating other people. Her parents’ marriage even had an open component.

Both partners are decidedly straight, so it does not have gender or sexuality diversity. She also does not detail the scheduling nightmares that many of my clients experience.

Overall I enjoyed the read. It was good on audio and I finished it in one day.
